Welcome Message

Welcome!
This is Dr.Jinwon Ahn,
Director of Handong Institute for
International Development Cooperation,
Handong Global University.

I am very pleased to introduce you to the
UNESCO UNITWIN project
led by Handong Global University and
sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education.

Beginning from its establishment in 1995, Handong Global University has provided educational opportunities to foreign students in developing countries worldwide and has continuously implemented international development cooperation programs, following its slogan “Why not change the world” and “Learn and Share” for the last 20 years.

As an acknowledgement of its efforts, HGU was designated as the first host university of the UNESCO UNITWIN program in Korea which aims to achieve shared growth between developed and developing countries. Our institution was also selected as the global hub of the United Nations Academy Impact in 2011 and 2014. In addition, HGU acquired the NGO status from the U.N. Public Security Agency and held the 66th U.N. NGO Conference in 2016. It also opened the Ban Ki-moon UNAI International Education Center in May 2019.

HGU has been implementing various research and educational programs in partnership with 100 institutions in over 37 countries through the UNESCO UNITWIN program, and 37,000 participants which include government officials, faculty members and university students, and community leaders have been benefitted from the project.

Handong Global University, as a higher education institution in Korea, will continue to actively participate in Education ODA, relying on its long-standing experience and accumulated knowledge in international development. We will work together to enhance the national status of Korea by strengthening the sustainable capacity of developing countries.

Thank you.
