15 Government Officials from Asia and Africa that have studied in Handong Global University's Graduate School of Development and Entrepreneurship presents a research thesis plan on the topics of solving current issues and potential solutions for their countries.

Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang)'s UNESCO UNITWIN Business Group and Graduate School of International Development Cooperation held a 'Thesis Plan Presentation on International Development Cooperation' at All Nations Hall on May 12th.

 

Handong Global University's Graduate School of Development & Entrepreneurship is a graduate school that invites outstanding government officials from developing countries in Asia and Africa and provides a long-term master's degree through training courses. This is given to foster talented experts who will lead new development models in developing countries.

 

This presentation conference was attended by the president of the HGU's Graduate School of Development & Entrepreneurship Young-Jin Kim, Handong Global University Professor Yoon-sun Kim, Professor Seung-man Cha, and Professor Jin-won Ahn (Head of the UNITWIN Operation), and others, to provide in-depth evaluations and feedback after listening to the government officials from developing countries presenting on their research papers.

The 15 government officials who participated in the event, presented on topic such as agriculture, education, transportation, economy and others for the development and problem solving in various fields of their research topics and plans. Musabimana Jeanne, from Rwanda, drew attention by presenting about the direction of improvement of the National Assembly Library by using an ICT technology. This improvement was needed due to the loss and damage of the library data caused by the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Various measures were proposed to resolve each country's development and pending issues, including Vogel Mofunda Kiketa, a Congolese student who presented about a pest management system to improve food security in Congo. Magezi Lawrence, a Ugandan student, presented about a transportation management system to solve the severe traffic congestion in the capital city, Kampala.

 

Handong Global University Professor Seung-man Cha affirmed, "We will clearly support the evidence to prove objectively in each research plan, whether quantitatively or qualitatively, and even include specific schedules to execute the plans when returning to each other's countries." In addition, Professor Yoon-sun Kim affirmed," With a sense of duty, study sincerely for the development of your own country". She also encouraged, "The research processes will never be easy, but all your efforts to solve those problems in each country will greatly contribute to your development and growth."

 

Handong Global University provides high quality education to students from developing countries suffering from poverty, disease and civil war, while also striving to promote cooperation with governments and universities in those countries.

 

*UNITWIN (University Twining and Networking) was a program founded by UNESCO in 1992 with the aim to help developed countries, their network, provide and support universities in developing countries with academic and research institutes to help reduce knowledge gaps and foster self-reliance. In Korea, Handong Global University was designated as the leading UNITWIN-sponsored university in 2007.

 

*The Graduate School of Development & Entrepreneurship is divided into a two-year general course and a Scholarship Program (SP). The SP program, supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency, selects government officials from developing countries and holders of related bachelor's degrees. They then conduct Master’s Degree training through the "Enhancing the capacity of Entrepreneurship based on Electronic Engineering and ICT Convergence" program.
