[UNITWIN] Handong Global University hosts Handong – ASEAN Start-up Innovation Center Conference with Indonesia · Vietnam · Cambodia 2021-03-29

- Utilization of centers to support higher education and economic development in developing countries

- Share COVID-19 situation in developing countries and discuss how to activate the center

Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang)’s International Development Cooperation Institute held a meeting of the Handong-ASEAN Start-up Innovation Center online at the UNESCO UNITWIN Advanced Lecture Room at Handong Global University on the 24th.

 

During this conference, Hyun-mo Sung, Beom-ha Ji, Ki-sun Yoo, Professor Jinwon Ahn from School of Management and Economics, Professor Byungdeok Kang from School of Counseling and Psychology and Social Welfare have participated. From ASEAN Start-up Innovation Center, Choong-Eun Wang, head of the Indonesia center, Seung-hoon Park, head of the Vietnamese center, Jun-seop Song, head of the Cambodian center, and Gun-woong Bae, a professor at the University of Tanzania also participated.

Participants in the meeting reviewed the previous cooperation with the Handong-ASEAN Start-up Innovation Center and heard about the COVID-19 situation. Also, during this conference, the participants announced specific measures to activate the center and requests for cooperation support in 2021.

 

Choong-Eun Wang, head of Indonesia's center asked for support for start-up education programs using ICT technology and projects to solve poverty problems through low-income financial education in Indonesia. Seung-hoon Park, head of the Vietnamese Center, announced plans for start-up education and entrepreneurship training programs. In addition, Joon-sup Song, head of the Cambodian Center for Startup Innovation, announced plans to revitalize the Co-Working Space in the Handong-ASEAN Center for Startup Innovation.

 

President Soon-Heung Chang said, “Through this meeting, we are pleased to prepare practical plans to contribute to the developing countries’ development”, and also said, “Handong Global University will continue to support Handong-ASEAN Start-up Innovation Center to develop higher education in ASEAN countries and become the stronghold center for future generations.

 

Handong Global University has opened Handong-ASEAN Start-up Innovation Center in 4 countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Furthermore, Handong Global University supported books, educational equipment, materials, and lecture videos to establish and operate educational infrastructure during this COVID-19 situation.
